Jennifer Lopez Criticized Over Holiday Photo Post

On December 25, 2025, Jennifer Lopez uploaded a Christmas selfie that drew a stream of criticism online. Observant fans were quick to point out what seemed to be blatant photo-editing errors in the holiday photograph.

The multi-talented performer shared the mirror selfie on X, donning a glittering red outfit and wishing everyone a “Merry Christmas.” In the image, Lopez can be seen holding an orange iPhone and showcasing her festive attire.

Comments soon flooded the post, with social media users highlighting the noticeable editing error. One user quipped, “Why is your iPhone doing Bend It Like Beckham?” while another stated, “I can’t unsee that curved iPhone.”

While a lot of the response centered on the distorted photo, it wasn’t all negative. A few fans took the opportunity to remind Lopez that she didn’t need photo filters.

The controversy came at a time when Lopez seemed to be struggling to sustain her commercial success. Her album “This Is Me Now,” released in February 2024, had a disappointing debut at No. 38 on the Billboard 200.

Lopez had put $20 million of her own funds into the album and its accompanying short film, “This Is Me Now: A Love Story.” The project also included a documentary, “The Greatest Love Story Never Told,” which delved into the creative journey behind both works.

On February 26, 2024, the “This Is Me Now” project faced a setback when actor Anthony Ramos declined a film role, citing his friendship with Marc Anthony, Lopez’s third husband and father of her 17-year-old twins, Max and Emme.

Lopez and Marc Anthony tied the knot in 2004, a relationship that began during what some might view as a rebound period, a theme she touched upon in the “Rebound” track on her “This Is Me Now” album.

Ramos was initially set to perform in the “Rebound” number with Lopez, but ultimately stepped back. In the documentary, Lopez is heard telling Ramos over the phone, “I didn’t know that you and Marc were, like, good friends. I didn’t know that.”

Lopez’s ties to her Bronx roots have been a contentious point throughout her career. The entertainer grew up at 2210 Blackrock Avenue in the Castle Hill neighborhood of the Bronx, New York.

In 2012, Forbes reported that Lopez earned $52 million, a testament to her commercial success. However, attempts to reconnect with her hometown have often been met with skepticism from Bronx residents, who wonder if her references to the borough are genuine or merely exploitative.

On June 16, 2014, Lopez released the album “A.K.A.,” which included nods to her Bronx upbringing. She followed this up with a concert at Orchard Beach, marking her first performance in her home borough. Fewer than 12,500 individuals attended the free event.

For artists like Lopez, who established their careers before the advent of social media, navigating the scrutiny of digital platforms can be challenging. Any error, whether intentional or accidental, can quickly become a trending topic and a source of ridicule on platforms like X.

Despite the backlash over the edited Christmas photo, Lopez continues to be a major player in the entertainment world, with a career spanning music, film, fashion, and various business endeavors.
