Beloved Comedy Star Dead at 62

Jayne Trcka, a notable bodybuilder and actress, passed away at the age of 62 on December 12, 2025. Trcka, known for her role as the gym teacher Miss Mann in the 2000 horror comedy “Scary Movie,” died at her residence in San Diego, California.

Trcka’s passing was confirmed by the San Diego medical examiner, though the cause of death is yet to be determined. Law enforcement sources revealed that a concerned friend, who had been unable to reach Trcka in the preceding days, found Trcka unresponsive in her kitchen. Emergency personnel were called to the scene, where she was pronounced dead.

According to her family, Trcka had no prior illnesses or health issues. Born in 1963 in St. Paul, Minnesota, as Jayne Marie Trcka, she developed an early interest in gymnastics before shifting her focus to fitness. In 1986, she relocated to Southern California and soon developed a love for weightlifting and competitive bodybuilding. By 1988, Trcka had started participating in bodybuilding contests, quickly establishing her reputation in the sport.

During her career as a bodybuilder, Trcka competed in the California State Championships and the NPC Junior Nationals. She was the champion of the 1997 California State Championships and won the 1998 Junior Nationals, thereby solidifying her standing in competitive bodybuilding. Her victories led to features in various fitness magazines, including Flex magazine, MuscleMag International, and Women’s Physique World.

Trcka chose to leave her postal service job to pursue her passion for fitness, becoming a personal trainer. Her distinctive physique and commanding presence soon attracted Hollywood’s attention.

In 2000, Trcka landed her notable role as Miss Mann in “Scary Movie,” a popular comedy that spoofed horror movies like “Scream” and “I Know What You Did Last Summer.” Trcka’s character delivered a standout scene with Anna Faris and Marlon Wayans, playing a gym teacher with unusual behavior that unsettled the protagonist, Cindy Campbell.

The success of “Scary Movie” led to more opportunities for Trcka in the entertainment industry. She made appearances on television shows like “The Drew Carey Show” and “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” showcasing her comedic skills and leveraging her unique physique.

Trcka appeared in the music video for Lady Gaga’s hit song “Telephone,” featuring Beyoncé, in 2010. In the video, she played a prison guard in the opening sequence, adding another significant credit to her entertainment portfolio. This appearance introduced her to a new fanbase beyond her bodybuilding achievements and “Scary Movie” role.

Aside from acting and fitness training, Trcka also worked as a realtor in California, creating a diverse career portfolio.

Her character in “Scary Movie” became a cultural reference point, using her bodybuilding physique to create humor in a manner that both challenged and perpetuated gender norms. The film’s success and enduring popularity as a cult classic ensured that Trcka’s Miss Mann character remained recognizable to audiences two decades after its premiere.

Trcka’s death signifies the loss of a trailblazer who contributed significantly to bringing women’s bodybuilding into mainstream awareness. Her successful transitions between athletic competition, entertainment, and business demonstrated the adaptability required for athletes to build sustainable careers beyond their competitive prime.
