Rising Star Dies at 27

On Jan. 25, 2026, Mo Su-jin, a vocalist for the South Korean group Acoustic Collabo, passed away at age 27, as confirmed in a Jan. 28, 2026 announcement from her management agency, Panic Button.

The agency did not disclose the cause of Mo’s passing. They conveyed her family’s sorrow, saying, “Mo Su-jin, the vocalist of Acoustic Collabo, passed away on the 25th. Her grieving family is devastated by this sudden and tragic news.”

Honoring the family’s request, the public was urged not to speculate or spread rumors about the cause of death. Her funeral was held privately with only close family and friends in attendance. The burial took place at Eden Memorial Park in Namyangju at 10:30 a.m. on Jan. 28, 2026.

Born in 1999, Mo originally trained as an idol before becoming the third vocalist for Acoustic Collabo. Together with vocalist Kim Seung-jae, she served as one of the group’s lead singers.

Acoustic Collabo highlighted Mo’s abilities in their third full album, “Good to Be with You.” The lineup at the time included vocalists Ahn Da Eun, Kim Kyu Nyeon, and Mo Su-jin.

In 2022, the group became involved in a legal dispute with their former agency. They ultimately won the suit in its entirety during the second trial on November 27, 2025, after a partial resolution in 2024.

Following their legal win in 2025, the band signed an exclusive deal with Panic Button. Alongside her activities with Acoustic Collabo, Mo pursued a solo path and released the single “Your Universe” in June 2025.

Mo’s route to joining Acoustic Collabo was distinctive. Although she struggled with dance during her idol training, she excelled in singing. Following her vocal instructor’s guidance, she shifted her attention to singing and became drawn to Acoustic Collabo’s music.

Her journey to becoming the band’s third-generation vocalist began after she uploaded a cover of “It’s Strange, With You,” an OST by The Ade from the drama “Discovery of Love,” to social media. Without her knowledge, the band was holding auditions at the time, and company staff discovered her video. She surpassed nearly 1,600 other audition participants.

Mo also explored a solo career under the name “Cloudy,” releasing songs including “Flight,” “Fade Away,” and “Be My Love.”

After her passing, her Instagram and YouTube content were briefly set to private before being restored on Jan. 29. A social media account believed to belong to her pet cat was also temporarily privatized.
