Lady Gaga Announced Something Nobody Expected

Lady Gaga has announced she’s getting married “soon” to her fiancé Michael Polansky, sharing the surprising update that has fans excited about the long-anticipated wedding.

The 39-year-old pop icon phoned into Bruno Mars’ iHeartRadio livestream “Romantic Radio” on Friday, March 6, 2026, asking him to dedicate a song to her and Polansky as they plan to marry. Mars, 40, immediately identified her voice and chose “Risk It All,” the opening track from his February 2026 album “The Romantic,” as a possible first-dance selection for the pair.

The wedding news arrives almost two years after Gaga announced her engagement to Polansky, a tech entrepreneur and Harvard alumnus, in July 2024. She revealed it in a particularly memorable way at the Paris Olympics, introducing him as her “fiancé” while speaking with French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal.

The two first met in December 2019 at Sean Parker’s 40th birthday in Los Angeles. They were seen kissing at a New Year’s Eve celebration in Las Vegas and went public with their relationship soon after the 2020 Super Bowl in Miami. They spent the COVID-19 lockdown together at Gaga’s Malibu residence, where their relationship grew stronger.

Polansky proposed during a rock climb on April Fools’ Day 2024. Rather than proposing at the peak, he kept the ring in his backpack for safety and waited until they reached the bottom to pop the question. True to Polansky’s style, he sought Gaga’s permission before making the proposal.

The engagement inspired one of the most intimate tracks on Gaga’s March 2025 album “MAYHEM,” where Polansky served as co-executive producer and co-writer on several songs. The track “Blade of Grass” came from a private backyard conversation about how he might propose; Gaga told the BBC: “A long time ago, we were in the backyard, and he asked me, ‘If I ever proposed to you, like, how do I do that?’ And I just said, ‘Just get a blade of grass from the backyard and wrap it around my finger.'”

Regarding the wedding plans, Gaga has suggested she may keep things fairly private, though she admits anything could happen. She has joked about a courthouse ceremony with Chinese food but also said it could turn into “a circus with unicorns.”

In November 2025, Polansky discussed their timeline in a Rolling Stone interview, saying they talk about marriage “all the time” and prefer an intimate ceremony over a large production. Lady Gaga’s Mayhem Ball tour is set to conclude at Madison Square Garden in April 2026.

Their creative partnership goes beyond music. Gaga often praises Polansky as her closest friend and greatest supporter, crediting him with seeing who she is beyond the pop persona. She won Artist of the Year at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards and dedicated the award to “my partner in all things, Michael.”

On her October 2025 appearance on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” Gaga, born Stefani Germanotta, also shared that her next big ambition is motherhood. Asked about future projects, she replied plainly: “What I really want is to be a mom. That’s my next starring role, I hope.”

Reports in August 2024 indicated wedding planning and prenup talks were underway, according to multiple reports at the time. With Gaga’s recent confirmation that the wedding will happen “soon,” fans are eager to see if it will be a simple courthouse event with takeout or the unicorn-filled extravaganza she joked about.

One thing appears clear: whether they choose Bruno Mars’ “Risk It All” or Gaga’s own “Blade of Grass,” the music for their wedding will carry deep significance.
