A royal radio appearance has sparked intense speculation about one of summer’s most talked-about celebrity events. Prince William appeared on the Heart Breakfast radio show, and when hosts Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden asked whether he had secured an invite to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding, his response was anything but a denial.
“We believe there is a big wedding happening this summer,” William told the hosts. When Holden asked the obvious follow-up — “Oh yes! Have you got an invite?” The prince laughed and replied, “No comment. I’m hoping, and I’m sure there might be an invitation around, but we’ll see.”
The Prince of Wales has good reason to want in on what’s been described as “the biggest social event of the year.” Swift and Kelce will exchange vows in New York City – rumors say at Madison Square Garden – on July 3, kicking off Fourth of July weekend in spectacular fashion. Between 1,100 and 1,200 guests are expected.
Instead of paper wedding invitations, Swift personally called her wedding guests, according to TMZ. They reportedly included Karlie Kloss, Zoë Kravitz, Ed Sheeran, the Haim sisters, Suki Waterhouse, Gigi Hadid and Selena Gomez.
Princess Charlotte, the Royal Swiftie
William’s interest in attending isn’t just about celebrity status. His only daughter, Princess Charlotte, is a full-blown Swiftie, and Prince Louis has caught the bug too, though Charlotte’s devotion runs deeper.
“Charlotte, my daughter, and Louis, to be fair… Charlotte, particularly, is obsessed with Taylor Swift,” William said. “We went to see her on her Eras Tour, and it was amazing.”
The prince recalled the electric atmosphere when he, Charlotte and eldest son Prince George watched Swift perform at Wembley Stadium in June 2024, marveling that he could feel the floors shaking from his seat as fans danced through the night.
That Wembley Stadium show may have planted the seeds for a potential invitation. Kelce and Swift met William, Princess Catherine and the children backstage at the London Eras Tour stop — a moment immortalized in photos that quickly went viral.
A Friendship Years in the Making
William and Swift’s connection actually stretches back over a decade. In 2013, the pop star attended an event at Kensington Palace to raise money for a homeless charity, where she famously took the stage with William and Bon Jovi for an impromptu performance. The unlikely trio belting out a tune together remains one of the more surreal moments in modern royal history — and it clearly forged a bond that has endured.
If William, Kate and family do make the transatlantic trip to New York City for the Fourth of July weekend festivities, it would mark a remarkable moment for both the royal family and the celebrity power couple. Imagine the photos: William and Kate rubbing shoulders with NFL royalty and pop’s biggest superstar on American soil, just one day before Independence Day fireworks light up the Manhattan skyline.
Whether an invitation ultimately arrives remains unclear, but William’s playful response only fueled speculation about a royal appearance at the celebration.
For now, William can only hope. And somewhere at Kensington Palace, Princess Charlotte is almost certainly hoping right alongside her dad — perhaps even harder. Whether the invitation arrives in the coming weeks remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: if William and Charlotte do get the call, this Swiftie father-daughter duo will be ready to dance.
